The use of some die-casting tools can result in the formation of undesirable excess material in the tool parting lines. They show as burrs on the casting surface.
The deburring technology is selected in accordance with the size and location of the burr. The conventional mechanical deburring methods include, among others:
- manual deburring
- trimming machine
- tumbling
- shot blasting
Thermal deburring is applied when burrs are formed in inner areas of parts and places difficult to reach where mechanical deburring, blasting or grinding and other methods would not produce the desired effect. This method is based on burning – evaporation of burrs in a gas chamber filled with oxygen and gas mixture.
